Text box and Gridview on same page
the page. When I try to update the item in the gridview the text box
won't allow me to update because of its validation set for that text
box. How do I get around this I need the validation on the text box
too. Here's my page.

Thanks it worked!
text box validation
I then put a validator the typical one that VS.net provides and a web form submit
the validator makes sure that the text boses are fill...but when I hit submit nothing happens even when I fill the boxes ... I can see that the page is not even going back to the server
any ideas
WashingtonHi,
please provide the code that doesn't work out for you and be sure to use the apropriate tags (view post 98605).
On the other hand, I don't think it's possible to set theControlToValidate Property of a normal html textbox that isn't registered as a htmlcontrol (with the attribute runat="server").
Grz, Kris.
There is a bug in the client-side scripting for ASP.NET 1.1 SP1. Please see this thread for a solution:http://www.asp.net/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?tabindex=1&PostID=739537

Text field validation
their passswords to enter in:
1. At least 6 characters
2. At least 1 number
3. At least 1 letter.
I have looked at the validator controls and can't find a example.
Any ideas or articles?
Thanks.
ErikUse the regular expression validator and enter the correct validation
expression. There is a help file accessible from the ValidationExpression
property dialog box that is a tutorial on regular expressions.

I can't find anything that will show me how to force users to enter at least
1 letter and 1 number.
Thanks.

To make the textbox required AND to have the data follow a specific pattern,
you need to add 2 validators to form (1 is a RequiredFieldValidator and 1 is
a RegularExpressionValidator) and have BOTH of them point to the textbox as
the ControlToValidate.
Now, users will be required to fill in data AND the data they fill in will
have to follow the regular expression you set up.
